Friends & Family Day

May 18, 2015 – We had a chance to practice on our friends and family and work any kinks in our register and kitchen before opening day on May 19, 2015.  We are so grateful to all the wonderful people who have supported us along the way.  I’d like to give the biggest shout out to my dad, James Whiteley, for being my number one supporter at every turn.  Without him, the Lucky Duck Café (LDC) would not have come to be.

As a single mom, I’m juggling many things but at the top of my priority list is my third grader who has been excited about the LDC and has been very understanding with some of my recent late nights and weekend work.  Knowing an ice cream parlor is coming next door has him very excited.

Thank you to my staff at the Good Luck Grill who have worked extra hard to fill in for me while I was working on opening the Lucky Duck Café.  They have all pitched in to train new staff, offer their ideas and suggestions for remodeling the kitchen, decorating the dining room and possible new items to add to the menu.  Our loyal GLG customers, many of whom have become friends, have been so kind to help promote the LDC to their friend circles and many of them have already been out twice since Monday just to support us.

I am deeply grateful to my contractors Brad Roithner – Richland Construction, Kelly Hejl – Antler Electric, Tom Frey – Texas State Fire Protection, Bill – BW Mechanical, Claude Edwards – C & K Plumbing who have been patient with me, worked hard to meet our deadlines and were willing to speak up and help my vision of the space be even better!  My former employer and dear friend Tracy Collins who owns the Boat House Grill at 620 and 2222 even came out one day to surprise by by striping my parking lot.

Thank you to Jacky Jones at JJ Services for recruiting me to Taylor and introducing me to my cool landlord Chisum Pierce.  I feel super blessed to be surrounded by such fine people who have all pitched in to help the LDC become an important part of the Taylor community.  Below are a few of the photos of family and friends for whom I have deep gratitude! We are excited to be here and look forward to a long and happy stay in Taylor.  THANK YOU!
